Música e vivências espaciais: uma análise a partir de estudantes de Dourados (MS)

Abstract

This research involves a study on Geography and music. We start from the understanding that art and geographic science can have an interesting dialogue, as art has the ability to enhance sensitive and humanistic issues of Geography, mobilizing spatial thinking. The objective of the research was to analyze and understand how the students' musical preferences are related to or interfere with their spatial experiences. When considering music, one should also pay attention to the meanings, symbols, sounds and becomings that it provokes in the body, in the territory and in space. We seek to retrace the path of geographic research on music in Brazil and its inspirers, as well as bringing recent authors who foment the geomusical debate in geographic science. In addition to theoretical reflections on the relationship between Geography and music, a questionnaire was applied in two basic education institutions in the city of Dourados (MS), one private and the other public, containing questions related to music, seeking to identify which songs, which artists and musical genres have been listened to by students, with the idea of understanding the relationship between music and the spatialities experienced by them. Based on the results, we can say that music, for students, has the meaning of a language of multiples, mainly as something subjective and immaterial that, with its intensity, makes internal forces audible in a given spacetime and that mark their experiences in that space.
