Abstract: This article investigates land use in the watershed of the Água Boa stream, located in Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul. The region faces significant challenges due to the intense agricultural activity and its impact on the local environment. Using geospatial data and statistical analyses, the study examines current land use patterns, identifies changes over time, and discusses the environmental consequences of these practices. Geoprocessing and remote sensing are two fundamental areas of geospatial science that complement each other and are widely used for natural resource analysis and management, urban planning, and environmental monitoring. QGIS is an open-source Geographic Information System (GIS) widely used for viewing, editing, and analyzing spatial data. With this tool it was possible to prepare maps and analyze statistical data using the Biomes Map, enabling the diagnosis of land use and land cover in the study area to be carried out through a temporal analysis over the years in the watershed of the Água Boa stream, located in the municipality of Dourados. There has been a clear evolution in land cover, reflecting the influence of human activities such as agriculture, industries, urbanization, and
changes in natural vegetation due to these advances. There was a significant reduction in pasture areas and a significant growth in areas for agriculture, especially for the cultivation of soybeans and sugarcane, corroborating the regional trend of agricultural intensification.Urbanization, especially in the vicinity of Dourados, has also contributed to significant changes in land use, resulting in greater fragmentation of areas and modifications in the environmental balance of the watershed.

Abstract: The district of Forte de Coimbra is the oldest locality in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, founded in 1775, and currently has 35 resident families. In recent years, there has been a strong process of population evasion resulting mainly from the deactivation of the 3rd Company of the Coimbra Fort, a military unit of the Brazilian Army, which was restructured into a Special Border Platoon in 2017.This situation has imposed new challenges to the economic, social and historical-cultural maintenance of the community, which motivates the need to design new alternatives for its development, based on planning policies. In this sense, the present work had as its objective the organization of an environmental diagnosis for the district of Forte de Coimbra-MS. For this purpose, the methodology employed was based on the use of geotechnology resources and field surveys, which allowed the characterization of the current reality of the locality, in order to propose guidelines and actions for its sustainable development. As a result, environmental mappings of the area called Landscape Surroundings of the Coimbra Fort were produced in the themes geology, geomorphology, soil, altitude, vegetation, use and
occupation of the soil and areas of historical and cultural interest. Finally, a synthesis of the diagnosis was produced, organized in a conditioning matrix, containing the environmental variables that interfere in the reality of the place, constituting a subsidy to the formulation of propositions about guidelines, measures and strategies for future planning for the district.

Abstract: Environmental diagnosis is an essential procedure for generating up-to-date information for planning, monitoring, and decision-making in the environmental management of conservation units. Among the techniques employed in the diagnosis, mapping stands out, as it contributes to the production of georeferenced information and its integration for multi-temporal analysis. Geotechnology is a rapidly developing field of knowledge that contributes to the generation of new software resources and remote sensing by UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), which aid in the production of georeferenced data applied to the management of protected areas, addressing the lack of detailed and up-to-date information suitable for conservation units. In this regard, this study aimed to produce an environmental diagnosis of
Paragem Municipal Natural Park in Dourados, MS, through multi-temporal mapping of land use and land cover, with the objective of analyzing the consolidation process of the conservation unit over time. For this purpose, geoprocessing techniques were employed using Geographic Information Systems to map the park area in 2007, at the time of its establishment, using a synthetic Google Satellite image as a base. In 2023, the mapping was supported by images generated by UAVs, which allowed us to assess the evolution of land use and land cover through a comparison of mapped classes in the two analyzed periods. As a result, it was possible to obtain two series of mapping of the conservation unit, the first one consisting of a record of the area's condition in 2007, shortly after the park's establishment, and the second one (2023) reflecting the most recent stage of land use and occupancy. Comparative analysis of the period revealed a substantial increase in the "Forest Formation" and "Floodplain Grasslands" classes, with growth rates of 81.4% and 39%, respectively, while the "Secondary Vegetation" class,
present in the 2007 data, was no longer identified in the 2023 mapping. It was also observed that the expansion of the "Forest Formation" occurred in the Recovery Zones. These findings indicate a consolidation process in the park's conservation conditions, with a reduction in liabilities inherited from the period prior to its establishment.

Abstract: The third sector are private, non-profit organizations that provide services of a public nature. They contribute to the conservation of marine vertebrates - agnates, fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds and mammals - which live in abundance all along the coast of Brazil. The main objective of this study is to highlight the contribution of the third sector to the conservation of these animals, such as which species the current projects work with, the difficulties encountered and which species are most threatened. This will be done by analyzing results from questionnaires, tables, spreadsheets and secondary data collection. The research resulted in 24 marine vertebrate conservation projects throughout Brazil, covering the country's 17 coastal states. These projects are dedicated to protecting 61 species, some of which are on the verge of extinction. However, these initiatives face a series of unmet needs, generating a chain of interconnected problems. Unfortunately, wildlife is directly impacted by this situation, since, as a result of the challenges faced by the projects, they may be forced to close down their activities, resulting in the loss of the valuable assistance they provide to the environment. In this way, this monograph aims to deepen our understanding of the collaboration of the third sector in the conservation of marine vertebrates along the coast of Brazil, giving greater visibility to a topic that is little debated, with the categories of threat of the species on a national and global scale, with an inventory of the target species and with the answers collected from the projects through an electronic questionnaire. The focus is on highlighting the relevance of the third sector in this scenario and emphasizing the need for continued support to ensure the preservation of these species at risk.
