Abstract: The objective of this work was to analyze the growth of Nile tilapia and the water quality parameters using different doses of postbiotic in the masculinization period. 750 Nile tilapia post-larvae were cultivated for 33 days in a water recirculation system composed of 15 experimental units with a useful volume of 0.1m³. They were distributed in a completely randomized design consisting of five treatments and three replications, consisting of two diets including masculinizing hormone (60 mg of 17 α-methyltestosterone.kg-1) containing 0 and 2.5g/kg of postbiotic and three diets hormone-free containing 1.25; 2.5 and 3.75 of the additive. Water quality parameters were monitored daily. The data obtained were submitted to ANOVA 5%. At the end of the experiment it was verified that the results of biomass gain, weight gain, individual weight, average daily weight gain and specific growth had significant differences in both diets offered to fingerlings. Among the analyzed parameters of productive performance, the diets that did not contain masculinizing hormone with a dosage ≥2.5 g/kg of postbiotic
showed the lowest values observed. The survival of the fingerlings did not show significant difference between the diets containing masculinizing hormone with 1,25 and 2.5 g/kg of postbiotic and without the additive. In all the physical and chemical parameters of the water analyzed, there were no significant differences between the results of the different treatments. Therefore, it is concluded that regardless of the doses of postbiotic included in the diet of the fingerlings, the water quality parameters remained in satisfactory conditions for the cultivation of the species and, for the zootechnical performance, the feeding using masculinizing hormone without the addition of postbiotic showed if superior presenting the most satisfactory values in the cultivation of Nile tilapia in the period of masculinization.

Abstract: Transporting fish from farm to slaughter at high densities can cause stress, which negatively affects meat quality. Seeking to reduce this impact, post-transport rest can be a strategy to return to the initial homeostasis of the fish. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impacts of transport at medium and high density, combined with different post-transport rest times, on aspects of instrumental and sensory quality of Nile tilapia fillets. Fish (average weight 967, 975 ± 13,975 kg) were transported at two densities (250 and 500 kg/m³) for one hour, and after transport they were placed in water boxes and maintained for different resting times (0, 2, 4 and 6 hours). Filet yield, rigor mortis, pH, color, shear force, moisture, water holding capacity, weight loss from cooking, drip loss, texture and sensory profile analysis were performed. The longest pre-rigor mortis time was observed at 500 kg/m3 associated with 4 hours of rest, at 0 and 2 hours of rest. The density of 250 kg/m3 associated with 4 hours of rest provided fillets with greater intensities of red and yellow. The highest cooking weight loss was found at 500 kg/m3 associated with no post-transport rest time. In general, the high transport density provided fillets with higher pH, lower red and yellow intensities, greater weight loss by cooking and greater drip loss. Resting for 4 and 6 h provided fish with longer pre-rigor mortis time, lower luminosity, higher red intensity and greater firmness. Fish submitted to six hours of post-transportation rest showed fillets with greater water retention capacity and lower drip loss. The treatments did not affect the yield, moisture, texture profile and sensory attributes of fillets. It is concluded that the high transport density negatively affects the quality of Nile tilapia meat, however post-transport rest times of 4 to 6 hours can improve quality, reducing pallor, water loss and increasing the firmness of the fillets.

Abstract: This study evaluated the effect of limestone application as a method to minimize the negative impacts of aluminum in soil on water quality used in aquaculture systems. The study was conducted at the Aquaculture Production Laboratory of the Federal University of Grande Dourados, using acidic soils and medium alkalinity water. Three treatments were tested: limestone application based on soil base saturation, limestone application based on water characteristics, and a control without limestone addition. The results demonstrated that limestone application, particularly using the base saturation method, was effective in maintaining critical water quality parameters such as pH, alkalinity, and hardness within optimal levels for aquatic organism production. The pH was maintained at neutral levels in the treatments with limestone, whereas the control exhibited acidification. Alkalinity and hardness
also increased significantly with limestone application, providing greater chemical stability and better conditions for cultivation. Additionally, treated soils showed improvements in parameters such as base saturation and reduced aluminum saturation, contributing to a more suitable environment for production. The findings confirm the importance of liming as a management practice in aquaculture systems, highlighting the efficiency of the method based on soil base saturation. It is recommended to apply limestone carefully and continuously monitor water quality to optimize production and ensure sustainability.

Abstract: Family farming as a whole seeks to organize its activities to improve the quality of life and generate income, trying to expand and improve production diversification. Fish farming is an efficient and economically viable activity for small producers due to its deficiencies and the possibility of production in different farming systems. However, to be successful in the activity it is essential to guarantee the quality of the water in the breeding systems and parameters such as dissolved oxygen, oxygen saturation, temperature, pH, hardness, alkalinity and nitrogenous compounds must be monitored periodically, in addition to management and Any corrections must be made during the production cycle to reduce possible impacts caused by seasonality, such as dry and rainy periods. Therefore, the objective of this work was to characterize the water quality of the different fish farming systems in the Itamarati settlement during the period from May 2022 to June 2023. The experiment was carried out in the Itamarati settlement, district of Ponta Porã-MS. Water quality parameters such as Dissolved Oxygen (mg/L), Oxygen saturation (%), temperature (°C), Hydrogen potential (pH), toxic ammonia (NH3), nitrite (NO2-), hardness and alkalinity in different fish production systems, three properties with excavated ponds, three with canvas ponds and three with net ponds. Significant differences were observed between the water quality parameters of the production systems (P < 0.05) for pH, alkalinity and hardness. Fish farms with excavated ponds and net tanks showed smaller variations in the configurations evaluated, tarpaulin tanks were the ones with the greatest variations compared to the others. The data obtained during the work demonstrated that the water quality of the production systems was suitable for fish production.
