Abstract: This article presents a comparative analysis between grid connected photovoltaic systems using microinverters and conventional systems based on string inverters. The objective was to evaluate the technical and economic differences associated with the use of microinverters in distributed generation through a case study applied to a real operating system. Based on historical generation data, an equivalent system with a string inverter was modeled under the same installation conditions, allowing the comparison of energy performance and economic viability over the system lifetime.

Abstract: This work presents the development, implementation, and analysis of an experimental Ball and Beam platform, a classic control system used for the study of unstable and nonlinear systems. The central objective was to design a didactic bench capable of integrating concepts of mathematical modeling, electronic instrumentation, and digital control, resulting in a highly efficient tool for academic applications. The methodology was based on the phased development of projects, starting with me&#xD;
chanical design via CAD software and manufacturing by precision processes (CNC and 3D printing). In terms of hardware, the architecture was structured around the Arduino Mega 2560 microcontroller, using a VL53L1X laser sensor (ToF) for position feedback and a high-torque servomotor for actuation. The mathematical modeling of the system was deduced from Newton’s Laws, incorporating the experimental determination of the static friction coefficient and the application of second-order IIR digital filters for conditioning the reading signals. The control strategy was based on the digital PID algorithm, whose&#xD;
initial tuning was performed using the analytical and experimental Ziegler-Nichols method During the tests, it was identified that the marginal stabilization of the system occurred with a critical gain of 1.47 and a period of 3.5 s. Although the theoretical parameters served as a basis, fine adjustments were necessary to mitigate the effects of actuator saturation and the nonlinearities of the physical plant. The results demonstrate that the platform achieved satisfactory performance, exhibiting stability, repeatability, and precision in the positioning of the sphere. It is concluded that the developed system is an effective tool for the practical demonstration of control phenomena, successfully fulfilling&#xD;
the established design and performance requirements.

Abstract: Este trabalho apresenta uma análise experimental do escoamento de ar na admissão de um motor diesel por meio da aplicação dos conceitos da Mecânica dos Fluidos. O estudo teve como objetivo determinar parâmetros fluidodinâmicos do escoamento, como pressão, velocidade e vazão de ar, e avaliar sua variação em diferentes condições de operação. A realização deste tipo de análise é importante para a compreensão do comportamento dos fluidos em sistemas de admissão, contribuindo para a avaliação do desempenho e da eficiência de motores de combustão interna. A metodologia empregada baseou-se na obtenção de dados experimentais de pressão e temperatura, utilizados para o cálculo das variáveis de interesse e para a caracterização do escoamento. Os resultados obtidos demonstraram que o aumento da demanda operacional do sistema promove alterações significativas nas características do fluxo de ar, resultando em maiores valores de velocidade e vazão. A comparação entre os dados experimentais e os fundamentos teóricos permitiu verificar a consistência da metodologia adotada e a aplicabilidade dos conceitos estudados para a análise de escoamentos internos. Dessa forma, conclui-se que a abordagem experimental utilizada possibilitou a obtenção de &#xD;
resultados coerentes com o comportamento esperado do escoamento, contribuindo para a compreensão dos fenômenos fluidodinâmicos envolvidos e para a aplicação prática dos conhecimentos de Mecânica dos Fluidos em sistemas de engenharia.

Abstract: This work presents the improvement and experimental validation of a modular test bench for the study of Pumps as Turbines (PATs) coupled to a three-phase synchronous alternator, aimed at the laboratory simulation of small-scale hydrogenerator systems. The research included the physical reorganization of the components, the definition of the mechanical coupling system, the assembly of the hydraulic circuit, the instrumentation of the test bench, and the dynamic validation of the structure through experimental modal analysis and operational vibration assessment. Three PATs were tested, corresponding to the INI&#xD;
40-250, INI 40-200, and INI 32-200 models, hydraulically driven by a pump operating as a pump in a closed circuit. The tests were carried out under no-load conditions, without an electrical load connected to the alternator, allowing the measurement of flow rate, inletpressure, average flow velocity, rotational speed of the PAT-alternator set, and no-load terminal voltage. From these data, the total hydraulic head, available hydraulic power, estimated electrical frequency, and complementary performance indicators were calculated. The results showed that the INI 40-200 presented the best compatibility with the nominal condition of the alternator, reaching 1844 rpm, 226 V under no-load operation, and an&#xD;
estimated electrical frequency of 61.47 Hz. The INI 32-200 reached 1606 rpm and the highest calculated hydraulic head, while the INI 40-250 reached 1440 rpm, remaining farther from the nominal rotational speed. The maximum available hydraulic powers were approximately 1.73 kW, 1.69 kW, and 1.55 kW for the INI 40-200, INI 32-200, and INI 40-250 PATs, respectively. Based on these powers and hypothetical global efficiencies, a preliminary possible electrical power range between approximately 0.45 kW and 1.00 kW was estimated, with a reference value of 0.87 kW for the INI 40-200. Since no direct torque measurement or operation with electrical load was performed, the efficiency, effective&#xD;
mechanical power, and useful electrical power were not experimentally determined. There fore, the estimates of mechanical power, torque, and electrical power were treated only through sensitivity analysis using assumed efficiencies. It is concluded that the test bench was validated as an experimental platform for the comparative characterization of PATs under no-load operation, allowing the identification of hydraulic and electromechanical limitations of the set and indicating the INI 40-200 as the most promising alternative for future tests with electrical load.
