Abstract: The Brazilian sugar-energy sector holds substantial importance in the context of the energy transition, and filter cake constitutes a key by-product for operational efficiency and environmental management due to its agronomic potential and high levels of phosphorus and organic matter. This study examined the management of filter cake in a sugar-ethanol mill located in southern Mato Grosso do Sul and identified actions capable of optimizing its control and utilization. Filter cake is generated after juice decantation in the filter press and may indicate operational inefficiencies when it presents high sugar content or excessive moisture. The research employed a single case study supported by a literature review, a semi-structured questionnaire, a technical visit, and qualitative content analysis. The results showed that the main indicators monitored include Polarization (Pol), Moisture, and Total Recoverable Sugars (ATR), with targets of Pol below 1.2% and moisture between 64% and 70%. It was observed
that Pol remained above the established limit, indicating sucrose losses, although moisture stayed within the ideal range. Moreover, operational issues such as vacuum leaks, misaligned scrapers, and damaged screens compromise filtration efficiency, characterizing the filters as a potential industrial bottleneck. Current improvement actions include testing different polymers, adjusting the sludge pH, and conducting daily laboratory monitoring. The filter cake is sent to the composting yard and applied as fertilizer in the fields. Accordingly, the adoption of automatic pH control and preventive maintenance of the screens is recommended, reinforcing that proper management of filter cake contributes to cleaner production (CP) and to the circular economy within the sugar-energy sector. Theoretically, the study expands the understanding of the factors that influence filtration efficiency in the sugar-energy industry, while from a managerial perspective it offers practical insights to enhance operational control and the
agronomic valorization of filter cake.

Abstract: The adoption of sustainable practices has intensified in the Personal Care, Perfumery, and Cosmetics (PCPC) sector, particularly with the incorporation of Circular Economy (CE) principles, which aim to keep resources in use for as long as possible. This study aimed to identify CE practices implemented by two organizations in the sector and to analyze the associated social, economic, and environmental benefits. The research was conducted through a case study, employing a semi-structured questionnaire and qualitative data analysis. The results demonstrated significant social impacts, including trengthening ties with local communities, generating direct and indirect employment opportunities, and increasing
environmental awareness, as well as compliance with regulatory standards. Economically, cost reductions were achieved through reverse logistics, packaging reuse, and the use of refills, with
additional benefits including penalty prevention, the development of secondary markets, and an enhancement of competitiveness and corporate reputation. Among the environmental benefits, notable aspects included the use of recyclable inputs, reduced water and energy consumption, decreased waste and greenhouse gas emissions, and advances in eco-design, material substitution, and climate mitigation initiatives. The findings indicate that CE is integrated into the operations of the analyzed organizations, contributing to organizational performance and supporting the transition toward more sustainable production models. Theoretically, the study expands understanding of value creation within circular systems in the PCPC sector, and practically, it provides guidance for managers to improve decisions regarding eco-design, partnerships, packaging innovation, and resource management throughout the product life cycle.

Abstract: Management practices in the retailing of Fruits and Vegetables (F&V) constitute a field of substantial complexity and strategic relevance due to the high perishability and seasonality of these products. This study aimed to understand the operational mechanisms and the main difficulties faced by retailers in managing the F&V supply chain. The research adopted an approach that integrated a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), which mapped 144 articles and enabled the identification of academic trends on the topic, and a multiple case study conducted in three retail chains of different sizes, small, medium and large. Data collection was carried out through a semi-structured questionnaire. The findings indicate that the F&V sector has strategic importance because it drives customer traffic and influences daily sales volume, with operations conducted to balance price and quality. The most relevant challenges include high perishability, particularly for items such as tomatoes and bananas, a shortage of qualified labor and difficulties associated with supplier relationships. To reduce losses, retailers conduct rigorous daily inspections during product receiving and display, and they also repurpose off standard items for the production of derivative products, such as packaged salads or for donation. The study demonstrates that F&V management requires specific operational and logistics governance models that differ from traditional supply chain approaches, which reinforces the need for efficient coordination to ensure quality, reduce waste and foster sustainability in Brazilian retail. The results are expected to contribute to the advancement of national literature and support more assertive decision-making in F&V management.

Abstract: The digitalization of the financial sector has established mobile banking applications as the primary channel of interaction between institutions and users, thereby increasing the importance of service quality in shaping customer satisfaction. In this context, the objective of this study was to identify which dimensions of service quality in mobile banking applications influence customer satisfaction in the Brazilian setting. Drawing on the specialized literature, a conceptual model with 11 hypotheses was developed. Data were collected through an online questionnaire administered to 316 participants, and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed for data analysis. The findings reveal that customer satisfaction is positively influenced by customer support, functionality, usability, loyalty, reliability, and institutional reputation, whereas security exhibited no direct effect. The study also identified a substantial impact of usability on functionality and of reliability on security.
Theoretically, the research contributes by validating a model tailored to the Brazilian context and by reframing security as an antecedent requirement rather than a direct determinant of satisfaction. From a managerial perspective, financial institutions are encouraged to prioritize technical stability and intuitive design, as usability has proven essential for enabling users to perceive value in the functionalities offered.
