A Língua Terena na Aldeia Buriti-MS: realidade sociolinguística e políticas linguísticas

Abstract

This study aims to identify the sociolinguistic reality of the Buriti village and to discuss the linguistic policies already established, as well as the elaboration of other actions that may help in the process of revitalization the Terena language in this indigenous area, located in the municipality of Dois Irmãos do Buriti / MS. It is hoped that this research will contribute to understand the history of Buruti village, the situation of the Terena language in the village and the process that resulted in the substitution of the Terena language for the Portuguese language through contact with non-indians. It is aimed also to describe the reality of Indigenous School Education in the Buriti village nowadays, to reflect on the proposal of bilingual education adopted at school. Finally, to reflect on the adopted linguistic policies and to establish other linguistic policies that enable the valorization and the revitalization of the Terena language at indigenous school and in the Buriti village. For the study of sociolinguistic reality, interviews were conducted from semi-structured surveys that aimed to identify the behaviors and linguistic attitudes of the Terena people of the village in which the research was conducted.
