Mulheres migrantes e muçulmanas em Dourados: um recorte sobre a religião como fator de integração e reafirmação de identidades

Abstract

This paper analyzes the influence of religion in the process of international displacement of migrant and Muslim women in the city of Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul. Considering that globalization in the International System involves several processes related to historical issues and social changes in the face of the social inequalities, also involves social, cultural and religious interactions and dealing with globalization, we are addressing under one of its ramifications, human mobility in international relations, since people have spread around the globe so that international migration is part of a transnational conjuncture. In this sense, the analysis of gender in international migrations revels as a fundamental object for an approach to migratory studies in contemporary times. The objective of this research is to understand besides all the causes of migration and the consequences of this scenario, based religion clipping about the implications that religion has on the migrant in the process of identity reaffirmation in the external social context. It also seeks to analyze the existence of connections among through the religious link, on how they manifest itselves and influence the integration of migrants during the process of human mobility. This research was based on field interviews, collecting the testimonies of the Muslim migrants in the city of Dourados MS, as well as bibliographic sources. Through this study, it was possible to verify the conquest of greater autonomy and the reaffirmation of the religious identity even after the choice to remain in the country with all the cultural diffusions. Thus, the study revealed through the migratory universe, the factor of religiosity as a pillar of support, integration and the conquest of autonomy of Muslim women who migrate.
