O Primeiro 11 de setembro: qual foi o papel dos EUA no Chile em 1973?

Abstract

The dispute for power between EUA and URSS after World War II, as known as Cold War left influences in all world. Even without war conflicts (between EUA and URSS), the huge ideological dispute between capitalism and socialism had influence in several events in the wolrd, being one of them, the military coup in Chile, 1973. The following work aims to understand which was the US participation in the fall of the Salvador Allende’s Government, analyzing the climate created in the chilean territory in the period after World War II, until the military coup in Chile on September 11, 1973, considering the circumstances of the time. It is intended to work with bibliographical analyzes, to delineate the chilean political situation since the middle of 1940, considering the gradual increase of power that leftist politics in Chile, and the US's concern with "threat” in Latin America, for reason of a communist growing. Showing how it was the Salvador Allende's government after assuming the presidency, in yours three years of government, pointing the interventions of US in chilean politics and economy throughout this period, showing why socialism in Chile does not achieved success.
