Abstract: This thesis is composed by a theme that addresses interdisciplinary studies prioritizing the approaches of Norbert Elias's literature, history of education and figurative sociology, focusing on social relations and cultural practices. The general objective of this research was to analyze the perceptions and compositions of the feminine by the autobiography and journalistic production of Cecília Meireles, investigating how the education of girls normalizes the feminine practices, considering the periods from 1901 to 1940. As specific goals, we seek: to analyze the perceptions about the childhoods and the representations of the feminine identities in the social configurations of the studied period; to present what elements of the formation and individualization of the girl and woman Cecília Meireles constituted her as educator, intellectual and journalist; and finally, to reflect on the processes of female social engagement and its journalistic performance in the country's political landscape, breaking with established social practices and representations. The choice for this author was justified by her having been an educator, and for her having published a diversity of literary productions, among which we highlight her autobiography entitled Olhinhos de Gato, launched between 1939 and 1940 and elected as a source for portraying her family and social living. Her childhood and formation were constituted in an environment based on behaviors, patterns and social rules permeated by changes in the balance of power between groups. In addition to the children's reminiscences of the writer and her literary production on this period, she actively participated in the process of constitution of a new identity for Brazilian education, proposing to raise and respect the child as a social subject. Cecília Meireles acted as an advocate of the Brazilian education, publishing pedagogical materials such as booklets and children's books and writing daily in the newspaper Diário de Notícias, in its section Education Page, column Comment, between 1930 and 1933. They were productions that we also chose as a source of our research, because in them the author, accordingly to her autobiography, fought discussions, published criticism and guidance on education. Cecilia's journalistic publ ications were far reaching, spreading among educators in defense of children's rights, and sparked disputes with intellectuals, rulers, and educational policy makers of the period. We delimit, as a crucial point of this research, to understand how the networks of interdependence acted on the feminine behaviors and the postures defining the social functions and the figuration in the balance of power between the individuals. In this aspect, the sociological studies of Norbert Elias point out that the figuration in the social groups, according to their interdependent conditions and their power, allow to infer in the production on the feminine, the manners and the places of this feminine, constructing different interpretations and representations. For this, seeks in the writing of Cecília Meireles, indications that make us perceive predictions, gaps, ruptures, strategies and symbolic indications about what it is to be girl and woman. Our thesis, based on the literature and the journalistic writing of Cecília Meireles, is that the formation of feminine behaviors arranged in standardization, precepts and social rules, present in the relational figuration of power lived by the writer, determined the production of feminine practices in the period. As results, seek s to understand the author's resistance strategies, present in her work and in her career, considering her social engagement, especially in her role as a journalist, educator and woman.
