Abstract

This research brings within its scope a discussion that aims to characterize and analyze the way of life of Pantanal women, their socio-economic development, the relationship with the environment, resistance and practices in the face of the set of diversities that dictate the course of life in the Pantanal. In this sociocultural context, highlighting gender relations within traditional communities, considering the appreciation of women as subjects in the family unit in the dynamics of work and territory. Within this theoretical and practical perspective, pointing out the concerns of researchers about the need to understand and identify the relationships that exist between genders in the search not only for a history of women, but a new history where these women are inscribed. This dialogue takes place with women from the Corixão, Cedrinho, Cedro, Limãozinho, Colônia São Domingos and Colônia Bracinho communities in the Paiaguás sub-region in the Pantanal of Mato Grosso do Sul, one of the largest floodplains on Earth. Within this universe, in order to understand the process of colonization of the communities in the Paiaguás region, it is necessary to relive the paths taken by the people and the waters of the Pantanal over the years, in the moments that precede the history of the women, men, young people and children who live in this area. region. Evidencing the movement of Pantanal women who bring in their countenance the attachment to traditions and customs inherited from the culture of indigenous peoples, which existed in the Pantanal region, in the face of the brutalization of nature with its modifications, these women with a simple and peculiar way move in a culture that integrates the social and economic within a rusticity acquired with the need to always be in search of survival and personal development, outlining strategies that make them be in tune with work, care for the house and the environment in which it is inserted , not losing the sensitivity of being feminine, the taste for physical beautification and the environment around them.
