As Percepções das estudantes deficientes na Universidade Federal da Grande Dourados: reconhecimento, inclusão e perspectivas

Abstract

This dissertation analyzes the perceptions of disabled students at the Federal University of Grande Dourados (UFGD) in terms of recognition and feelings of inclusion and highlights their perspectives on their professional lives. The empirical research, at first, focused on quantitative data from the Multidisciplinary Center for Inclusion and Accessibility (NUMIAC) of UFGD and the form applied using the Google Forms platform with self- declared disabled students who were previously identified by NUMIAC. Subsequently, the data were tabulated and treated. Then, a NUMIAC employee and some students who agreed to participate in the research were interviewed. Finally, the interviews were transcribed, seeking to observe points of recognition, inclusion, and exclusion in their statements. Through the data provided by NUMIAC and those collected in the form, it was possible to determine the number of disabled students in each undergraduate course at UFGD, as well as establish the profile of these students through the questionnaire and select those who would participate in the second phase of the study, using a semi-structured questionnaire, which allows a qualitative analysis. It is important to highlight that the interviewed students feel little included in the academic environment, most of them know NUMIAC, and some have even been assisted by the center, however, they show great dissatisfaction with its performance at the university. Moreover, they attribute some recognition for being able to attend undergraduate courses at a federal institution, in the opposite direction of the stigma created by being disabled would provide.
