dc.description.abstractThe Palestinian refuge represents one of the most challenging and enduring humanitarian issues in the Middle East, beginning in 1948 after the creation of the State of Israel, which led to the Nakba. This work thus aims to analyze the complex situation of Palestinian refugees, seeking to understand the causes that have made this phenomenon one of the most persistent and intricate refugee situations in human history; to examine the protection and assistance mechanisms of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) for the refugee population; to explore the refugee definitions provided by each organization and the reasons behind UNRWA’s establishment. In addition, the final chapter presents a case study on the history and reception of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, analyzing how the presence of this population is viewed by the Lebanese government and public and examining UNRWA's role in the region.en
dc.description.resumoO refúgio palestino representa uma das questões humanitárias mais desafiadoras e duradouras do Oriente Médio, com início em 1948, após a criação do Estado de Israel, que acabou por gerar a Nakba. Dessa forma, o presente trabalho busca analisar a situação dos refugiados palestinos, visando compreender quais são as causas que levaram este fenômeno a ser uma das mais persistentes e intrincadas histórias de refúgio da humanidade; quais são os mecanismos de proteção e assistência do Alto Comissariado das Nações Unidas para os Refugiados (ACNUR) e da Agência das Nações Unidas de Assistência aos Refugiados da Palestina no Próximo Oriente (UNRWA) para com a população refugiada, qual a definição de refugiado dada por cada organização, e porquê a UNRWA foi criada; além disso, no último capítulo, foi feito um estudo de caso explorando a história e recepção de refugiados palestinos no Líbano, como a presença desta população no país é vista pelo governo e população libanesa, e qual a atuação da UNRWA no local.pt_BR
