Concepções e práticas feministas: mulheres metodistas da Igreja Cabeceira Alegre de Dourados - MS

Abstract

The research involved Methodist women of Cabeceira Alegre Methodist Church of Dourados-MS, performed from 2018 to 2019 it was attended by 17 married, widow and divorced women, in order to register how much this women know the feminism and their daily influences. Therefore, thoughts have been made about the feminism, sexism and the submission through these Methodist women point of views. It was sought to register how the feminism matter goes through the Methodist women day-a-day and how it influences their lives, reporting to in family relationships, social relationship and in church, taking into account that various meaningful changes have happened in society sectors after the Feminist Movement in Brazil. The research methodology is of qualitative nature, semi-structured and opened interviews were done to women and field journal with attention to understand the women facing the dogmas as submission and power, besides the rules built by society and reproduced by the church. The essential authors used in this research: Daniela Auad, Ivone Gebara, Heloisa Buarque de Hollanda, Heleieth Saffioti and Marina Castañeda. It was noticed that in its principles the Methodist Church shows support for gender equality, yet in practice, it is barely approached, because it is still, nowadays, a division between feminist conceptions and submission, midway advances and setbacks. Among the advances is the female priesthood and the active women participation in various segments of the church. The women show to be careful about each other, nevertheless with no feminist connotations linked to the movements. It was verified that the conceptions and truth built by the patriarchy principle are still in their lives and are reproduced into the church.
