A Educação escolar indígena – Niiǥachime na Escola Municipal I Indígena Koinukunoen no território Kadiwéu – Porto Murtinho/MS

Abstract

The present research has as general objective to analyze the curriculum matrix and the curricular references of elementary education (initial and final years), from the years 2007 to 2019, 2020 and 2021, of the municipal indigenous schools located in the Kadiwéu Indigenous Reserve in the municipality of Porto Murtinho/MS. Data were obtained through bibliographic research, on-site surveys in the São João village, specifically at the Koinukunoen Indigenous Municipal School and remotely (phone and WhatsApp application) interview indigenous teachers, parents/guardians, leaders, and, with the Municipal Department of Education – SEMED of Porto Murtinho/MS. The Koinukunoen Indigenous Municipal School offers the discipline of mother tongue in the Kadiwéu and Kinikinawa languages, and these disciplines are taught by teachers of the respective ethnicities. Another curricular component that is currently part of the 2021 curriculum of indigenous schools, unexpectedly brings its incorporation into school daily life, is Entrepreneurship, whose endorsement was given through consultation in the follow-up of indigenous school education of the Municipal Council of Education. The results of this research determined that, in addition to the curricular matrix, the curricular references and the effective participation of the community in decision-making in relation to indigenous school education are not in line with the interests, knowledge, traditions and culture of the Kadiwéu community. Furthermore, the current legislation regarding indigenous school education, both the LDB/1996 and the Federal Constitution of 1988, are not being applied by the municipal government to guarantee the community a social organization and identity policy.
